Leadership and the Power of Empowerment #leadership #empowerment One of the most powerful ways that leaders can motivate their team is to ‘enable them to act’. Doing this builds the confidence of other people so that they know that they can achieve more than they previously believed they could do. It’s the belief by you as their leader in what they can achieve, that inspires them to perform even better. Managers are inclined to hold people back, by not sharing information with them, by not allowing them to do things that might then reflect poorly on the managers skills. Managers often feel insecure, threatened, even, by the chance that team members perform better than them. Leaders don’t have this concern in any way. Rather, they want their people to perform at their best, they want them to believe in themselves, they want them to be able to achieve amazing results, This is called empowerment. Leaders empower the people they are leading to develop that self belief in the individual and support them as they move into areas that may challenge them. The research shows that 96% of people perform at their best and they’re challenged. Increasing individuals self belief, often challenges individuals, because they feel they aren’t good enough, they may even be victims of the imposter syndrome. Leaders can see through this and encourage those who are following to break the barriers of their own restrictions. Where we encourage leaders to say “what if? “ when looking for a new way or ways to do things, these two words are powerful. But there are four simple words that are even more powerful in motivating others: “You can do it.” When leaders say this, it imbues confidence in the ability of that other person to absolutely achieve the outcome desired. Of course, simply saying “you can do it“ doesn’t mean that the leader is not there for assistance and guidance if needed. Leaders can say “what do you need from me to help you make this happen? “ They can say “what’s stopping you from achieving this ? It’s certainly not me. “ Manages might feel that if they empower team members that they give their power away. It might seem odd, but the opposite occurs: When a leader gives his power away, he actually gains more power. That power is the innate motivation that he or she creates in the other person. Give your power away. Share information. Build trust in the ability of each individual to perform better than they thought they could. That’s the power of empowerment. #Leadership #Empowerment #Leading #Empowering #Growth #Motivating #culture #Motivation#leadership #Enabling #Coaching #Leadershipcoaching #leader #values #professionaldevelopment #Professionalgrowth #leadingbyexample #Leadingbyempowering #Giveyourpoweraway
